Benedict XVI: "It is always necessary to purify the hearts from the of pride"

'It is always necessary to purify one's own heart of the poison of pride, present in every one of us." Benedict XVI repeated the words of Saint Paul Thursday evening, in St. Peter's Basilica, meeting students, faculty and staff of ecclesiastical universities, pontifical colleges and seminaries of Rome, at the end of Mass marking the beginning of the new academic year.

Saint Paul, the Holy Father said, contrasted the "wisdom of this world", which is to see things apart from God, with "Divine Wisdom", which consists in following the mind of Christ and the path of truth and love, and denounces the poison of false wisdom, which is the pride of man.
