Pope Benedict: Protecting Marriage and Family

Benedict XVI, in his speech at the presentation of the credentials of Lithuania's new ambassador to the Holy See, Vytautas Ališauskas, noted that globalization and the great potential offered by technological development and communication, can also threaten to isolate more and more young people from each other. That is why the Church is ready to fulfill its role in proclaiming Christian hope, justice, solidarity, and commitment to others. Regarding politics and diplomacy, the Church recalls that the priority should be given to the defense of marriage and the family, defense of human life from conception to natural death, in order to give real answers to questions about the meaning and purpose of existence.
