Silence

The clamor and noise in the world today takes us away from the true encounter with the Heavenly Father who speaks through silence.Recalling Gods primacy in the life of man, Benedict XVI made a renewed appeal to sanctity during the General Audience catechesis of September 9th which he dedicated to the figure of St. Peter Damian. A monk, lover of solitude and, overall, an intrepid man of the Church who played a leading role in the reforms undertaken by the Popes of his time, St. Peter Damian perceived the universe as a parable, and in the Cross he saw the infinite love of God for his creation. It was above all in silence and prayer that he heard the divine call, abandoning any kind of worldly compromise.
