Dublin to host International Eucharistic Congress in 2012

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, will host the next International Eucharistic Congress, to be held in 2012. Benedict XVI announced the choice of Dublin at the close of June's International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec. This will be the second Eucharistic Congress in Ireland, the first of which was held in Dublin in 1932. "I trust that those who will participate in the upcoming congress will maintain a source of spiritual renewal that will last forever," the Pope said. International Eucharistic Congresses are a coming together of the Universal Church to celebrate Jesus, alive and present in the Eucharist, source and summit of evangelization and the center of the life of the Church.
