"On the Separation of Sense and State"

Thank goodness we have some strong Bishops in our country who are speaking out to defend our faith! After House Speaker Pelosi's interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” some of our Catholic Bishops decided to respond to her interpretation of the Catholic position on life. Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver did a beautiful job of providing some basic catechesis in his article "On the Separation of Sense and State." It was also good to see Cardinal Egan and Archbishop Wuerl get into the mix on this issue as well! Let's pray for all of our Bishops that they might continue to lead and teach the truth during these difficult times. Let's also pray for our political leaders that they might come to defend the most helpless among us. Here are the words of the Archbishop of Denver.

Thanks. Read the post to the teens at lunch and then went back to watch Nancy on youtube and finally read the bishops response. Good learning experience for all of us.

As an Englishman, I always thought of America as a much more religious place, where people would be proud of their beliefs - whatever they may be. I was pretty shocked that somebody who called themselves a Catholic could also 'preach' voting for two pro-abortion candidates.

If church leaders continue to highlight the importance of politicians' stance on abortion I can't see pro-abortion Democrats getting away with such utterly false statements as some of Pelosi's recent comments.

It's great to see that you like Sarah Palin. I think she's the perfect VP to help shake up Washington and reinstate some principals!
