Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

More U.S. women joining the convent
More U.S. women are joining the Convent!

I love to see and hear good news about vocations. Many of you may have heard of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. They are a Roman Catholic religious order that was started out of Pope John Paul II's call in Vita Consecrata. They are based in Ann Arbor, MI and was founded by four sisters in 1997. The community's apostolate is Catholic education. They currently run the Spiritus Sanctus Academies, private and independent K-8 Catholic Schools in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing, and also have small groups of sisters teaching in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Sacramento, Venice and Phoenix at both the elementary and secondary levels. They also offer spiritual retreats, and spreading the faith by giving talks at colleges, Catholic groups, vocation fairs and other places. In the past 11 years they have grown from 4 Sisters to over 70! God bless them and continue to send them vocations!

I absolutely LOVE them, although I'm about to be too old for them, too. But I've met Mother Assumpta when she gave a talk at a conference I'd attended, and she's just wonderful. It's not surprising that they are doing so well; it's the entire package of holiness that we are all so desperately seeking!

Our women's retreat center has it roots in the Dominican Sisters of Amityville...it is through their good blessings and work that we at veritas Villa can conintue our good works.
Sometimes, there is nothing better than a spirtual retreat. It can seem easy to plan one on one's own, but an experinced progam can also really help you get on track.Spiritual Retreats for women can be, I find, especially helpful. There is something about being with like minded women, in the full bunty of nature and close to a higher power, that makes everything right again in the universe.
