The Synod of Bishops: The Word of God in the life and mission of the Church

The following comes from H20 News via Gloria TV:

Only a few days left until the end of the second Synod of the papacy of Benedict XVI, "The word of God in the life and mission of the Church", and its General Secretary, Msgr. Nicola Eterovic confides that it is expected to launch an ecclesial renewal.

"We hope that from this Synod, with the grace of the Holy Spirit- and truly, the presence of the Holy Spirit has been perceived in our work-will arise a renewal of the Church from hearing the Word of God. God speaks a word of life to us today, a word of hope and of charity."

This word of hope has to reach around the world, not only to Catholics, comments Monsignor Eterovic, pointing to the ecumenical dimension of this Synod.
"The mission, the Word of God is addressed to us in order to be diffused throughout the whole world, and so, announcing the Word of God we meet with our Christian brothers; ecumenical dialogue is very important, but also with those belonging to other non-Christian religions. Christians by their very identity have to announce to others, also to the people of the cultural world, the joy of being disciples of Jesus Christ."

The Synod of the Word will be closed by Benedict XVI in Rome on October 25.
