Prayer need: Spanish Salesian dies in accident at the Generalate

Please pray for Fr Pablo Marín Sánchez who was killed today in an accident. The following comes from the Salesian News Agency:

Fr. Returning at about 8.00 from saying Mass, Fr Pablo Marín Sánchez was involved in a serious accident with several other vehicles. The car he was driving was hit by a large lorry. His condition was seen to be critical and he was taken to the First Aid Accident Centre at the Aurelia Hospital, where he died shortly after as a result of his injuries.

Fr Marín, 51 years of age and 28 years of profession, was born at Bedmar, Spain, on 18 June 1958. After novitiate at Sanlúcar la Mayor, he became a Salesian making his profession on 29 August 1982. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies in Granada and Seville, making his perpetual profession in 1987 and being ordained priest in Cordoba on 15 December 1990. Two years later he obtained a degree in Geography and History at Cordoba.

He carried out his ministry in several Salesian houses: Málaga, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Ronda and Palma del Río. Between 2005 and 2007 he was Editor of the Salesian Bulletin and Director of the Salesian Family website in Spain donbosco.es and National Delegate for Social Communication. Called to Rome he was working at the Generalate with dedication and skill as a member of the Salesian Historical Institute.

Already an author of several historical books he had recently sent to the press the volume “Cronaca di Don Bosco. Prima redazione (1885-1888)”.
